Mouth Odour Problems

I HAVE VENEERS, I AM BRUSHING MY TEETH REGULARLY BUT I HAVE MOUTH ODOR PROBLEM
This is one of the complaints that we hear most from our patients who have veneers:
“I HAVE VENEERS, I BRUSH MY TEETH OFTEN BUT I AM HAVING MOUTH ODOUR PROBLEMS.”
Veneers and bridges come in the very first place of the treatments that we use to fill the gaps of teeth and esthetics. No matter how perfect these bridges and veneers are prepared, they result in surfaces to have extra cleanings that the residues hold on. As these residues accumulate in time, they may have heavy consequences such as mouth odor, decay formation, tooth loses. This is not a problem that count as permanent, not solvable or it is not a problem like as we think as “I have a bridge so certainly I will have odor.”
Why it causes to have mouth odors?
Especially, for the patients whose teeth gaps are completed with bridges, when the gap is filled with veneers, a place is formed as a gap at where the residues can accumulate. Nutrients that accumulate on these gaps may create an annoying sensation and by putting pressure to the veneer and the gum under it. No matter how hard the brushing is done, these are not the areas that the patient may clean, and the hairs may reach to. Also, the areas which cannot be cleaned and in the further years, it results in teeth decays, teeth recession and teeth swings by losing teeth’s supports.
So, by getting rid of this odor what should be done in order to use these veneers for many years and protect the gums under these veneers?
The answer is an absolute mouth care for this question. Unfortunately, dentists who make these veneers and bridges are very forgetful to inform you about this subject.
Patients who had this treatment should learn the cleaning of these bridges by using flosses from their dentists and must make this as a habit.
What is this special floss, is it enough only to use this floss?
Absolutely no. Patients need to apply a daily routine of mouth care. Brushing and usage of tooth floss must be a daily routine.
Patients with bridges must floss bridges, floss under of them and floss around of them in addition to this routine. Toothless area that is completed with a bridge should be cleaned with this special floss’ cotton part, by both cleaning all the parts under the bridge and the part that is being the support as the lateral.
Patients who gain these habits without any problems may use their veneers very healthy and for long years.
